Well I just discovered I am a visitor! Guess I have to work on not just taking what I can and leaving, but adding to what was said and connecting!

@Velvet Thanks for the comment.

I think the commenting you describe is common and valuable.

As you say, for funny and amusing posts, you commend the writer, which is what the writer is probably looking for with such a post.

And where appropriate on other posts you add your link; perfect way to market your site...

...which, by the way, I think has great designs.

I really like <a href="http://www.kseidlphoto.com/blog/" rel="nofollow">kseidlphoto.com</a>!

Thanks again for reading!

Nice post. I'd say that I'm a mix. Sometimes, on some of the funnier posts, I'll usually commend the writer, usually adding nothing worthwhile to the discussion.

Most times, however, I do have something to contribute. And yes, if I have written something related, that truly adds to the conversation, I might link to it... I don't think that it's promotion because I only do it in less than 5% of all blog comments...

Nice related links. :-)

Well said Cory. I think there's a place to be all three.

What you describe is the perfect process I believe for making valuable connections.

Thanks for the comment!

I'm a mix of all three. Constantly editing myself so I don't push my own "stuff" too much. It has to be a good post that strikes a nerve to comment.

Commenting does develop relationships though and at that point, I am able to market in a non pushy way. Patience and consistency are key.
