You bet - I run periodic giveaways for the email subscribers (first one was a GPS receiver, next one probably a camera). I think we're still a bit young for a newsletter, but I'm keeping my eyes open to that possibility, down the road.

Roughly 30% of my readers are not "Web 2.0" folks, so I've started dedicating one day a week to providing links to interesting sites that these people would otherwise never get exposure too. I've had some good feedback on that, and it helps keep the site relevant as a source of interesting information.

@Roy,

Thanks for your comment on the blog.

I'm not actually a guide myself, but I agree with you. I believe most new business for guides and outfitters does come through existing customer referrals.

For Hunter Share (my Website that is currently under construction) I try to send out weekly email updates.

When the site relaunches, hopefully a short time after the first of the year, I'll be sending out monthly e-newsletters to members that opt-in.

Do you do marketing to the followers of your blog, CampingBlogger.net?

How much marketing do you do to existing clients (Christmas Cards or a newsletter, for example). I would think that a lot of new guide business comes from existing customer referrals.

Interesting to see the trends of hunting rising and falling with the seasons. Google certainly reflects life.
