Questions I Have About Hunting Businesses, Hunting Websites, and Hunting in General (Please share your thoughts!)
Usually when I sit down to write a blog post it relates to questions I’ve had about the Web and about operating a hunting business.
I don’t have all (or even a few) of the answers for the Web and hunting businesses.
I know you have some excellent insight to share with the other readers and with me.
Here are some questions I can’t figure out right now.
Side Note: Please feel free to answer these questions on your blog if you would like and put a link to your answers in the comments. I’ll be sure to check them out!
1. Does offline marketing help to grow traffic to your Website?
There are good ways to use online marketing like forums, blogs, Twitter, etc. There are also ways to utilize paid advertising.
What about offline marketing? Is there a good way to use offline resources and connection building techniques to create valuable relationships that will improve your site traffic as well as your online brand?
2. Podcasting and Interviews
I’m thinking about starting to do interviews and posting them here on my blog. I’m wondering if this will add value to the site or if I will lose value by not posting the transcripts of the interviews. I haven’t found a good software program yet that could post the transcript and I think it would be vital for visitors.
Any thoughts?
3. Are posts aimed at getting Digg traffic worth it?
At first I feel like writing catchy posts that stand out, in an attempt to get on Digg, is not the way to go. Does it have long-run benefit or is it just a flash in the pan?
However, as a result of getting on Digg you could gain some new long-term readers.
Write posts aimed at Digg traffic? Writes posts like I generally do, usually longer and (hopefully) valuable?
4. What type of posts do hunting site owners enjoy reading and find valuable?
I like to write list posts and longer posts with lots of content. Is this the best way to go? Should I have more brevity?
5. Post frequency
I have always enjoyed blogs that post about one new post per day during the week; so about 4-5 per week. I always thought it was good for my own blog.
What do you think? Is that too little? Too much? Or does it really just depend on the quality of the content?
6. Any book suggestions for hunting business owners?
I’m a big reader; both blogs and books. If there is good content out there that I’m missing?
Do you have any blog or book suggestions for hunting business owners or business owners in general? Any good resources for bloggers?
7. Paid Advertising – Any good suggestions?
I’ve written about paid advertising before. With Hunter Share, I’ve had success with Facebook Ads. It was good for converting Facebook users to users on Hunter Share. The traffic seemed to generate people who were interested in joining the Hunter Share community.
Have you had luck with other paid traffic campaigns?
Hopefully you can help me out.
And if you have any questions feel free to post them in the comments.

Podcasts are fun. I’ve done a few as the interviewee and they can be very informative.
As far as post frequency, I think at least three times a week. I’m with you in that I like one new post a day, but that isn’t always possible.
I think offline marketing can help grow traffic to your site, particularly if you make it easy for people you meet to remember your URL. Word of mouth can be very powerful.
Hi Kristine,
I’ve always found podcasts interesting as well. I’ll keep you in mind if I decide to start them. =)
What sites have you been interviewed for?
Post frequency: It definitely is not possible sometimes. And as I’ve thought about it, I’m sure readers appreciate quality over quantity.
Great point about offline word of mouth marketing. A great example are the upcoming Regional OBS Meet ups.
Thanks for the good advice. =)
