Kristine, I agree that the hunting and outdoor communities are very open to positive interaction with companies. Any ideas why your blog has been quiet? I'm glad to hear it's been a positive experience thus far for you.

One of the things that has amazed me the most is how supportive and open the hunting and outdoor blogging community has been, if you are willing to make a substantive contribution. A blog can be a great way to publicize your hunting business and build fans. Unfortunately the Hunt Smart Think Safety Blog is more quiet than I'd like at the moment, but that has been a great tool for building a community around GSI.

@Adam - You know, I haven't seen Cabela's doing outreach as of yet. If they have it's been quiet (meaning they haven't done enough). I agree that it would be huge for them (or their competitors). I'll have to do more investigating and expand if they (or others) are in fact participating.

Thanks for the comment.

Great idea for a case study.

Great post Dayne. I used to subscribe to Cabela's, they have to be doing some outreach to bloggers? I'm not sure but it seems like that's a huge opportunity for a company like them. I'd love to hear if you come across examples of blog/social media outreach in the hunting industry, that'd be a great case study.
