Dayne,

Links are definitely an important aspect of blogging, and one that I think is sorely under utilized by the vast majority of quality writers. Some of the best bloggers I read infrequently link to other bloggers in their work.
There are some strategies that anyone can employ to increase not only their exposure, but that of other quality sites.

You can link to other bloggers in the comments.

Link to related posts that are not on your blog.

Run a weekly Blog Rodeo or Round-up of the best posts you found that week.

Link to a post. That one's easy, just hit the link button.

Post a Blogs of Note on occasion.

Put a banner up for your favorite bloggers.

And when someone links to you, return the favor.

Here are some of my favorite blogs:
Whitetail Woods
Wild Ed’s Texas
Nebraska Hunting Company
Hunting Business Marketing

It is as simple as that to help you increase yours and others authority, and exposure.

Best regards,
Albert
